As I mentioned earlier, my wife was thrilled to death when I gave her the Panasonic SD YD250 for an early Christmas gift. She anxiously removed the red and green ribbon, and began to examine the YD250. The first thing we both noticed was it's relatively small size.

It fit perfectly in a space on our kitchen counter, without taking up prep space, or space we use for other tasks. The bread maker our family had when I was a kid, had to be put in the garage because it was so big. It weighed about 40 lbs.

We also noticed that it did not have an "observation" window. No big deal, but it is kind of cool to watch the bread being made. The included instruction manual is well written and easy to understand. Immediately, we started looking over the recipe book that accompanies the SDYD250. Many of the recipes looked scrumptious, and were selected as our first "victims. "

Providing MANY features, this high tech bread machine boasts 21st century electronic convenience and options.

TheSD YD250 basically does everything; mixes, kneads, rises, and bakes bread in three loaf sizes up to 2-1/2 pounds.

And it has several additional settings, such as white, whole wheat, multigrain, and French (crisp crust, open texture) breads, each made appropriately for that particular style.

Also, the controls permit rapid baking and baking sandwich bread with a soft crust. For raisin bread, a beeper sounds when it is time to add the raisins, so they are not smashed during kneading. Crust color can be selected as well.

The Panasonic SD YD250 automatically adds yeast at the correct interval from a dispenser on the YD250's lid. It also bakes "cake" like breads such as banana and gingerbread.

Amazingly, it mixes, kneads, and rises doughs for pizza, focaccia, and croissants, in preparation for baking them. The SD YD250 can be programmed up to 13 hours in advance so fresh bread or cake is ready for any designated meal.

All in all, my wife and I have fallen in love with the Panasonic SD YD250 bread maker!I don't think I can ever settle for "store bought" bread again!
